FCC announcement of licensing freeze for public safety 4.9 GHz band


The FCC has just announced a freeze on license applications for the public safety 4.9 GHz band. Effective September 8, 2020 the FCC will not accept applications for new licenses in the 4.9 band, or modifications of existing licenses that increase the coverage of the existing license. Applications submitted after this announcement, and any pending applications currently at the FCC will be dismissed without prejudice unless they meet certain limited exceptions.
