The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a training session and opening it to all law enforcement agency employees. This Communications Training Officer Course provides the public safety communications professional the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively train entry level dispatchers. The course facilitators utilize facilitated discussion, small group activities, case studies and real-life scenarios.
During this 40-hour course student will:
- Apply adult learning theories
- Formulate a training plan
- Prepare an evaluation documentation
- Understand the need for organizational training standards
- Demonstrate counseling and training intervention skills
Students must successfully complete a practical skills application during a scenario on the fifth day of the course.
This is a five day, 40-hour course. Course hours are 0800-1700 hours each day.
Prerequisites: Registration is limited to public safety dispatch professionals who are currently employed with a California Law Enforcement Agency.
Registrations and Lodging: This course is limited to 30 students and reservations will be made on a first come, first served basis. Students may register for the class at www.sheriffacademy.com. Course Fees: $195.00 Payable in a single check to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. Payment is due on the first day of class.
