2015 Awards and Recognition Program Update

Now that the nomination drive for the 2015 Association of Public Safety Communications Officials, Intl. (APCO) awards is over, the No. CA Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (No. CA APCO) would like to focus on our local awards program. Each year No. CA APCO is honored to recognize members of the public safety community who have demonstrated the highest levels of personal and professional conduct and performance in the line of duty. Nominations are currently being sought for the No. CA APCO awards program. Nominations are due to the 2015 Chapter Awards & Recognition Committee by Friday, October 30, 2015.

The eight categories for the 2015 Chapter Awards & Recognition Program: Telecommunicator of the Year; IT Technician of the Year; RF Technician of the Year; Line Supervisor of the Year; Dispatch Team of the Year; Trainer of the Year; Communications Center Director of the Year. The eighth award category – The Preston Thomson Award of Excellence – is a No. CA APCO Chapter-specific award. Nominees must have been employed in the applicable category by a public safety agency at any time between April 1st 2014 and March 31st 2015. Nominations must be received by the No. CA APCO Awards & Recognition Committee no later than Friday, March 13, 2015. Nominees need not be members of No. CA APCO or APCO, but we always encourage new members!

All nominations received by the March 13, 2015 deadline in the above APCO-recognized categories will be submitted to APCO for consideration nationally. All nominations selected by the No. CA APCO 2015 Awards & Recognition Committee will be awarded at our Annual Board Meeting and Vendor Tabletop in December. An agency may elect to submit nominations directly to APCO; the deadline for those nominations is April 1, 2015. Please contact Angela Azevedo, Chair of the 2015 Awards & Recognition Committee, for additional information and/or questions.
