6th Annual California Mobile Command Center Rally

In cooperation with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), the Northern California Chapter of APCO Int’l (NAPCO), and the California Fire & Rescue Training Authority, the California Fire Chiefs Association (Communications Section – Northern Division) will host and facilitate its 6th Annual free mobile communications/command vehicle rally on Wednesday, May 7th from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

This year, the event will be held at the City of Sacramento’s Corporation Yard. The site is at the corner of Kenmar Road and Striker Ave, and can easily be accessed off I-5 (Del Paso Rd exit) or I-80 (Northgate Blvd exit). It is just 5 minutes from either freeway.

This event will again gather together a wide variety of mobile command and communications units from around California in order to demonstrate the variety of capabilities and mutual aid operability of local and regional mobile comm units throughout the state. In addition to standing demonstrations of mobile unit, classroom presentations will be offered (schedules to follow asap). An interoperability exercise is also being developed.

Field communicators, Comm Unit Leaders, Incident commanders, patrol supervisors, incident dispatchers, emergency managers, and other public safety professionals will be able to:

  • See firsthand what command and communications resources are available in the area
  • Obtain a better understanding of Incident Management for large scale operations utilizing COMLs, Incident Dispatchers, and Incident Management Teams for fire, law, EMS, and all risk incidents.
  • Mobile units will be able to participate in an interactive interoperability exercise during the event.

Command units will need to be on location from 0700-1600 hours, and be accompanied by an agency representative able to host tours of the unit. [Note: Participants coming from the south and west will encounter heavy traffic on I-5 starting after 0600].
