SLN 5 (CKR 5) Encryption Key Compromised

Immediate Action Required

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has recently discovered that the encryption key for storage location number (SLN) 5 (CKR 5) has been compromised.
In response to this imminent threat, CISA is advising all public safety agencies cease using SLN 5 in any activity, effective immediately. Consequently, the SLN 5 encryption key will no longer be available for distribution through the National Law Enforcement Communications Center (NLECC).

“We understand the critical role SLN 5 plays in your operations, and the sudden discontinuation may pose challenges. However, our top priority is the security and integrity of the nation’s critical communications systems and data.”
