FCC OET Announces Commencement of Testing of The 6 GHz Band Automated Frequency Coordination Systems

On August 24 the FCC released Public Notice DA 23-759 announcing the commencement of testing of the 6 GHz band automated frequency coordination (AFC) systems that will manage access to 6 GHz spectrum by standard power unlicensed devices. The Docket identifies the AFC systems will be subject to two test methods, lab testing and public trial. The docket further identifies that additional testing such as field testing or end-to-end testing as suggested by commenters on previous Public Notices are not necessary. Once the conditionally approved AFC systems have successfully completed the testing process, OET will approve them for full commercial operation.
