Governor Vetos Pre-Paid Telephone 9-1-1 Surcharge

Governor Brown on Thursday vetoed Assembly Bill 300, a bill that would have added a 9-1-1 surcharge at the point of sale of pre-paid cell phones. Governor Brown stated that the “solution is… duplicative, complex and will result in significant and unnecessary costs to the state.” He did encourage Assembly-person Perea to work with local government and state agencies to craft a bill that has “…a more cost-effective solution.”
