The speaking lineup has been announced for the January 2013 Membership Meeting. We will be pleased to hear from a local Chief, a new addition to our meetings this year, and the American Red Cross.
Our local Chief at this meeting will be Lloyd Ogan, the Deputy Chief of Operations, City of Sacramento Fire Department
Our keynote will be provided by the American Red Cross, and we have two speakers who will be presenting on their behalf.
- Anthony Benedetti– Tony Benedetti is the Emergency Services Director overseeing Disaster Services, Services to Armed Forces (SAF), and International Services programs for the Capital Region.Tony has been with the American Red Cross since 2004 teaching First Aid CPR classes full time in the San Francisco Bay Area. He began his Disaster Response career a year later during Hurricane Katrina and has served on over 20 Disaster Relief Operations. After serving as a Disaster Manager in the Bay Area he moved to Washington DC as the Sr. Associate, Individual Assistance at the American Red Cross National Headquarters. Tony joined the Capital Region Chapter as its Emergency Services Director in 2011. Tony served 3 weeks at the American Red Cross Headquarters in NY during the Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts.
- Christy Woods – Christy Woods joined the American Red Cross in August of 2006. Since then, Christy has worked to make the Capital Region better prepared for disasters and emergencies. She leads the Preparedness Department, whose staff and volunteers educate individuals, families, businesses and community groups to gain the knowledge and skills to become more resilient. In addition, Christy directs Government Relations both for the region and statewide. She ensures elected officials and government partners have the opportunity to collaborate with the Red Cross to ensure a safer California.
Christy is President of the Sacramento Region VOAD and sits on the Sacramento Operational Area Council. She is a member of California Women Lead and Capital Network. In addition she has responded as a government liaison in numerous national level disasters.
