Senior communications technician

The Senior Communications Technician is a team leader who serves as a subject matter expert in the Telecommunication Division. They assists in scheduling services and perform difficult and complex work such as programming, editing, and modifying various types of talk groups on a variety of different radios. The Senior Communications Technician provides technical and professional mentorship and training to the communication technicians. The Senior Communications Technician is expected to create and maintain training resources.

A combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree in Electronics or a related field and two years of full-time experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of trunked radio, microwave, and related communications equipment that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities. One year of additional related experience may substitute for the education requirement.

Certificates and Licenses
Possession of a valid FCC radio-telephone operator’s license or an equivalent radio technician certification issued by a recognized authority such as Association of Public-Safety Communications (APCO) or National Association of Business and Educational Radio (NABER) is desirable.

Network and Infrastructure Support: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA A+, Com TIA Network+ or an equivalent certification is desired.
