The Monterey County, Information Technology Department (ITD) consists of four (4) operational Divisions: Administration; Applications & Customer Support; Infrastructure & Operations; and Information Security. ITD resources are operated and maintained in a manner that supports high availability for utilization and minimizes the risk of business interruption. ITD’s focus is on developing a sustainable, customer-focused environment to enhance and improve the quality of technology services used by County departments for the benefit of all Monterey County residents, businesses, and visitors.

The Infrastructure & Operations Division provides foundation technology and capabilities essential for County’s business needs. It keeps the County connected by operating the County’s critical technology framework and designing resilient and competitive solutions. Over the last few years, the Division completed a significant number of enterprise projects which include the deployment of regional public safety P25 next generation radio network communication system (NGEN), Zoom and Teams video conferencing and softphone solutions, software-defined networking using Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), self-managed Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network, and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).

The Division seeks an Information Technology Manager for the Radio Communications team. The team provides critical radio communication services for Emergency Communications department, police, fire, and emergency medical services in Monterey County. This position under direction, will manage the planning, acquisition, deployment, operation, and support of radio and wireless technologies including microwave for the County of Monterey; plan and direct the daily activities of the Radio Shop staff; manage professional and technical staff engaged in the support of Radio systems; and have overall program and asset management responsibilities of the radio systems at the County of Monterey.
