Public Safety Communications Training – San Bernadino

CPRA and the Northern California Chapter of APCO want to make you aware of the Customer Service in Today’s Public Safety Communications Center Course that is being offered in San Bernardino County on April 10 and the Active Shooter Incidents for Public Safety Communications Course on April 14. Each course is offered at a reduced conference rate of only $50 per attendee (normally $199!) at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario during the Western Regional Conference. We would like the opportunity to answer any questions you may have about the class that Scott Espindola is coordinating for the California Public Safety Radio Association. WRC registration is not needed to attend and APCO membership is not required. Each attendee will earn 8-CDE’s. Each attendee will earn 8-CDE’s per course attended.

In light of the most recent active shooter tragedies, this course identifies ways to help our colleagues in communication centers learn about, prepare for, and recover from, these incidents. As the providers of communication capabilities and responder safety, telecommunicators should be aware of the unique challenges posed by active shooter incidents and be prepared to address them well in advance. There are a multitude of issues that make responding to an active shooter more difficult than other armed subject calls or violent-in-progress incidents. This course will educate telecommunicators about the intricate issues and their response during an active shooter event.

Providing satisfactory customer service in the high energy, often high stress field of public safety communications, is paramount to successful performance in this profession, both for the individual telecommunicator as well as the agency they represent. This course addresses all aspects of customer service and how it impacts our industry. Although intangible, it is a critical component that must be understood and applied in excellence to every situation. Successful students will earn APCO Institute International Certification and 8-CDE’s.
