This course provides Public Safety Dispatchers with the opportunity to develop the skill, knowledge, ability and attitude to facilitate instruction as a Regular Basic Academy instructor with their peers. This course combines a fully certified Instructor Development Institute (IDI) Level 1 course with a deeper understanding of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training requirements and process for course certification.

This course is ideal for seasoned instructors as well as new instructors who are ready to employ more effective and advanced instructional concepts in the classroom. The course includes a comprehensive review of contemporary adult learning methodologies and advanced student-centered learning classroom facilitation techniques.

Prerequisite: Completion of “Student Learning Outcomes” located on the California P.O.S.T. Learning Portal under Instructors/AICP.

During this 40-hour course student will:

  • Practice facilitation skills
  • Understand course design concepts
  • Understand adult learning theories
  • Understand the purpose of learning activities

Students must demonstrate training/facilitation skills to successfully complete the course.

This is a five day, 40-hour course. Course hours are 0800-1700 hours each day.

Reservations and Lodging: This course is limited to 24 students and reservations will be made on a first come, first served bases.
