Senate Confirms Tom Wheeler as FCC Chairman

Congratulations to Tom Wheeler who was confirmed by the US Senate as the new Chair of the FCC this week. The Senate also confirmed Michael P. O’Rielly as a director, filling two vacant positions within the commission.

Wheeler was most recently a managing director at Core Capital Partners, a venture capital firm. He was president of the National Cable Television Association from 1979 to 1984, and led the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association from 1992 until 2004.

O’Rielly has worked for Congress for 20 years, and has been an adviser to Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), the Republican minority whip. He previously was a staffer for Sen. John Sununu (R-N.H.) and for the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Congratulations to both of these men.
