Silent Key Notice – David Swan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the recent passing of David Swan, an APCO life member and recipient in 2011 of the J. Rhett McMillian Award of Distinction. There is a Silent Key tribute under the APCO News section of the APCO Intl. home page.

For those who wish to reminisce, here is a link to David’s videotaped acceptance of the McMillian award that was shown at the Gala in Philadelphia.

An APCO member since 1974, David had an unmatched passion for APCO history. During his tenure as the Illinois chapter Historian, David was instrumental in establishing the historical collection and served as a liaison to the library at Bradley University from 1982 to 2010. Each year, David mentored a new graduate intern and provided oversight to the organization and cataloging of the collection, which included his creation of the historical website in 1999, that is a searchable archive of APCO articles and related documents.
