Wideband Renewals No Longer Accepted by FCC

It has just been learned that the FCC WILL NOT process a license renewal if it contains WB emission designators. Those possessing waivers to continue WB usage must add an attachment to their renewal application indicating the FCC waiver information, or a statement that the spectral efficiency requirement is satisfied, in order for processing to continue. This does not apply to those frequencies not involved with the NB program.

Those wishing to renew their licenses that contain WB and NB emission designators should follow a two-step process, below described:
Step 1, Remove Wideband Designators:

  1. Log into https://apps3.fcc.gov/wideband-removal/ using your FRN and password.
  2. Click the View Call Signs button.
  3. Select a call sign by clicking on it.
  4. You will be given a list of those frequencies still containing the WB designators; click on the box beside each WB designator, or click on select all button.
  5. Certify removal of the WB emission then click on the green box at the bottom of the screen.
  6. You will then be presented with an EBF number, call sign and clock date to indicate the FCC’s acceptance. Print this sheet for your records.

Step 2, Renew:

  1. Access the ULS system and initiate your renewal process.
  2. Prepare a Word or pdf letter stating that the WB emission designators have been deleted from the license, call sign, the EBF number, time and date that WB was removed.
  3. Attach this to your renewal form, complete the form and submit it.

THIS MUST BE DONE WITHIN THE SAME DAY AND IN THE ABOVE SEQUENCE.
